Welcome to Slow Vietnam — honest, current travel guides to Phu Quoc and beyond, written from real on-the-ground experience.
This site exists because too many Vietnam travel guides are written once, never updated, and polished until every beach is “paradise.” Vietnam changes fast — especially Phu Quoc, where a beach that was pristine in one season can be under a seaweed line the next, and where whole resort districts appear in a year. We think travelers deserve the current, unpolished version.
Who’s behind this
Slow Vietnam is run by Dong Min, together with a family that calls southern Vietnam home. That family connection means our information doesn’t come from a press trip or a weekend visit — it comes from years of repeat time on the ground, local prices actually paid, and relatives who tell us when something changes.
What we promise
- Honesty over hype. If the snorkeling is mediocre, we say so. If a famous beach has a bad season, we tell you which months.
- Current information. We date our claims and update our guides — especially the ones about conditions that change.
- Real prices. In Vietnamese dong and dollars, from this year — not from a guidebook printed five years ago.
- Slow travel first. We cover long stays, monthly rentals and living like a temporary local, not just three-day sprints (though we have those too).
How this site makes money
Some links on this site are affiliate links to booking platforms we genuinely use (like Klook). If you book through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That keeps the site free and the reviews unbought — no one pays us for coverage, and we don’t do sponsored trips.
Questions, corrections, or a tip about something that changed on the island? We genuinely want to hear it — see our contact page.
